Wisdom for Today!
Read:
Proverbs 2:1-5 (ESV): “My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
Act:
Let us be determined this week:
Trust in and rely on the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind. As we go through life, there may be times of doubt that God will really work all things for our good and His glory. However, it’s important to recognise that doubt is a normal part of being human and can lead us to stronger faith. Our doubts can be a positive force for growth and deeper understanding. We should always have faith in our kind and merciful Lord, knowing that His promises are true, His grace is enough, and His love for us is unfailing. We can trust that His timing and plans are always perfect.
Avoid relying on our own insight or understanding. In order to make wise decisions and overcome our doubts and fears, we can turn to the teachings of our Lord. Proverbs 9:10 (ESV) explains that, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” We can find truth and understanding in Jesus, who holds all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3). To live wisely, we should pursue God wholeheartedly, seek His presence, learn from Jesus’ teachings and example, meditate on God’s Word, and connect with a supportive community of believers. By doing so, we will become more like Jesus and gain the wisdom and knowledge He provides.
In all our ways know, acknowledge and recognise God. As we grow in wisdom and understanding, we can share our experiences of what the Lord has done for us with others. By reflecting on and remembering the ways in which God has been faithful to us, we can bear witness to His goodness and help guide others to experience His enduring presence, grace, light in the darkness and everlasting hope.
Trust in the faithfulness of our Lord, knowing that He will make our paths straight and smooth by removing the obstacles in our way. May we seek God’s wisdom in difficult situations and trust Him to be in control of our lives and relationships. May we continue to seek Him and ensure that He remains at the centre of our lives. May we have faith in God’s ability to rebuild, restore and redeem our lives and relationships for His glory. With God’s guidance, our hearts can be transformed, and we can experience His never-ending peace and joy.
Not be wise in our own eyes, but fear the Lord (with reverent awe and obedience) and turn entirely away from evil by seeking His wisdom and life-giving light. As we go through life and attain Godly wisdom, may we ask our Lord to show us the areas of sin in our lives. God gives us opportunity after opportunity to repent of our sins. He is always calling us back to Himself. He reminds us that He is a God of restoration, our Redeemer. Let us remain faithful – refocusing our hearts to seek, choose, find and glorify Him in all we do.
May we fall on our knees in prayer before our Lord as we recite James 1:5 (AMP): “If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.”
God’s wisdom is there for you, for me, for all of us! May we trust in and rely on it, not depending on our own understanding but seeking our Lord, asking Him to show us His way and how to live a life that brings Him great honour and glory!
Pray:
God, thank You that we are allowed to doubt: that we are allowed to ask, ‘Where are You? Why are You silent?’ We are allowed to ask, ‘How can we know that Your promises are true?’ We are allowed to say, ‘God, we don’t understand Your timing.’ ‘We don’t know where You are.’ ‘We can’t feel You.’ ‘We can’t always hear You.’ Thank You that we are allowed to do that. You never tell us that we are not allowed to do that. You always reach out to us with Your love and compassion. Our prayer today is that in our doubt, we will find You, and we will meet You face to face. May we meet a new side of You so that we will see a deeper side of ourselves. Help us to not run away from moments like these because they’re uncomfortable, and we don’t like them. Help us to embrace these moments so that we can grow in our faith.
Lord, I want to honour You by talking to all my fellow believers and recounting a record about the God that I serve, and all the great things that You have done for me. May what I talk about, and what I write down and mediate in my ‘scroll’ be acceptable to You – so that it can be read out the day You return. May the content of my ‘scroll’ help others to distinguish between the darkness and the light that is so desperately needed in the world today.
Heavenly Father, I praise You with all my heart for all the lives, marriages, and relationships You have miraculously redeemed and restored. Please Father, have mercy on those who find themselves in difficult relationships. Show them how to seek You and stand on the promises in Your word. Please Father, cause Your light to break forth with healing. Guide us all continually, so that we may be like springs of water that do not fail. Thank you for building upon our ruins and raising up the foundations of many generations. Thank You from the depths of my heart for the hope we have in Christ and for the joy and peace that You shower upon us. All glory to You.
Father God, we lay ourselves before You. Forgive us for our sin. Lord may Your spirit reveal to us the things in our lives that are not pleasing to You. Lead us to repentance. Help us to turn to You in every area of our lives. You are slow to anger and abounding in love. You do not treat us as our sins deserve. Let us rest in Your great love and the incredible grace You lavish upon us.
Heavenly Father, we want to honour Your holy name. You are good and You are sovereign, and there is no one like You. Thank You for the gift of Your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus. Thank You for Your Word. Jesus You are the only all-wise One and wisdom is only found in You. Please will You fill us with wisdom. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
