It’s Your Choice!

Read:

John 4:7-15 (NKJV): A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”

Act:

As we look at the world around us, let us consider that the difference between living in a desert and living amidst green trees is water. Physical water yields a lush environment, and an environment with scarce rainfall yields barren land, dry ground, and little evidence of life. The same is true for us as spiritual beings. When we are filled with the Life-giving Water of Jesus Christ, our lives are lush – filled with purpose, peace and the presence of God. When we choose to live without Christ, our lives are filled with despair, anxiety, panic, and a lack of purpose and direction. It’s in our ‘desert seasons’ that our thirst for God’s Living Water increases. During these times, our faith and patience are tested. As we wait on the Lord, and even when we don’t see the results as soon as we might like, may we know that He never stops working in our lives, and His well of Living Water will never dry up. Let’s trust that God will complete and make everything perfect in His time.

Remember that we have a choice daily… To choose:

Worry and fear; or joy and peace.
Anxiety and depression; or God’s love – and His perfect plan and purpose for us.
Shame and condemnation; or the freedom and hope we find at the foot of the cross.
Fear and loneliness; or the knowledge that the Lord is our Shepherd, always there to protect, guide and provide for us.
Entanglement in sin and unhealthy habits; or turning away from old ways of living as we allow Jesus to transform our lives.
Empty, meaningless living; or faithfully walking in the joy of our Lord – lacking nothing with our focus on Jesus alone.

When we are filled with God’s Living Water, we can let go of all that is holding us back from living the life God intended for us. What do you need to leave at the feet of Jesus today to experience God’s promised freedom, joy and peace? What must you leave behind to allow God’s Living Water to flow through you to be a blessing to all around you? It ultimately is a choice!

Pray:

Lord, we want to stop right now, and we just want to talk to You. We want to confess our anxiety and panic during this season. Sure Lord, it’s been a lot. We’re unsettled, we’re unsure, and we want to confess that to You. Lord, we want to ask, let Your peace dwell in our hearts, so that we can patiently wait on Your direction with confidence and in peace. In the beautiful name of Jesus.

Dear Lord, we want to ask You to open our eyes to see people with depression around us. Help us to care for them. Remind them of Your love and purpose through our caring for them. We want to pray that You break the bondage of depression in the lives of our loved ones. Be the light that shines in their darkness and make us sensitive to how You want to use us in their lives.

Abba Father, we thank You that Your Word is new every day! Thank You, that when we feel You are far away, we can just close our eyes and call on Your name, and You will be there! We thank You for safety and for Your protection. To You belongs all the honour and glory forever and ever.

Father God, we know that there is no shame or condemnation; only freedom, allowing us to become pure vessels of light, witnesses for You! Help us to leave our obstacles, challenges, worries and concerns with You. Bring remembrance of all You have done, which strengthens our faith for what You will do as we leave our burdens at Your feet. We know that the refreshing, refining, and freedom are worth it. Please fill us afresh with Your Living Water so we can be Your hands and feet wherever we go. We love You and honour You. Thank You, Jesus.

Father, I just want to thank You today. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You that Your Word is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. Thank You that we can walk in Your Word, and thank You that we can enjoy Your life in us. I thank You for Your joy. Thank You that joy unspeakable can be part of our lives. Thank You that Your joy is our strength. I pray for every brother, sister and everyone listening, that they will experience Your joy. May we not let the enemy steal our joy, but rather make a firm decision in every situation, to count it joy knowing that we can trust You… and that we can walk by faith. In the name of Yeshua, our Messiah. Hallelujah. Thank You, Abba. Amen.
