Draw near to God…
Read:
James 4:8a (ESV): “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you”.
Act:
Let us be determined this week to:
Start 2021 on our knees.
Allow God’s will to run its course in our lives.
Obediently follow where Jesus leads us.
Remain steadfast in God’s Word as the only Truth in our lives.
Get serious, stop playing games, stop blaming others, stop worrying; and instead focus on spending time – especially now – crying out to our Lord and Saviour to go before us throughout this year… and to use us for His Kingdom purposes for the glory of His name. Let’s be on the lookout for any opportunity to pray for one another, and to share God’s love through any means possible.
Pray:
Lord Jesus, we pray for the salvation of the lost in this world. Lord, whether people are gathered in churches or scattered in their homes, draw them to the truth of Your Word. Show them that they can have purpose in this life – and the promise of heaven through Jesus Christ alone. Should You place those people in our path, may we have the wisdom to recognise them and the boldness to share the gospel.
Father God we pray for those who are believing for finances, whatever position they may be in. I pray Lord Jesus that You would just come: You are our Jehovah Jirah, our provider, Lord God. Lord Jesus, would You provide for every single person who is listening to this.
Help us Lord to keep an eternal perspective on all that we may experience, and in all that we may go through in life.
Heavenly Father, I pray in the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ, that You would comfort all Your children who have suffered this past year with the loss of a loved one. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding fill them completely.
Almighty Heavenly Father – today I would like to pray for everyone who is sick or experiencing chronic pain. Lord, I ask that You give us discernment to know what to pray for when it comes to the healing of others and ourselves. Give us good discernment when it comes to using or stopping medication. Lord, we need Your wisdom. We need Your inner power to carry us through.
Lord, teach us to surrender our ways into Your strong hands, and to simply rest in You. Teach us that in Your love, You will never fail us. You long for us to be happy. And when we fall, help us to not resist Your love or grow discouraged. Help us to feel Your strong arms around us, to hear Your voice of love. It’s Your Spirit that revives us. Teach us that everything works together for Your good purposes. I want to thank You Lord for who You are, and for what You did for us. You saved my husband from cancer twice; and you are still giving me visions in spite of cancer. I thank You for paying the price and for dying in my place. I thank You Lord for Your Word. Nothing can separate us from Your amazing love!
Jesus, we come before You and pray for everyone that may have struggled with emotional pain or with fear during 2020. We know that Your perfect love can cast out all fear and we ask You to please heal our emotions. Help us to respond to You based on the truth of the Word of God, and to not be deceived by the lies of the enemy. We pray that You bring joy and deep trust in You to our hearts.
Thank You Jesus that we can call on Your Name and Your Word as we lift up those that are filled with depression and anxiety, especially in this season and as a result of this past year. I pray Isaiah 61 over Your daughters and sons. Lord, would You give them the oil of gladness instead of mourning; would You give them a garment of praise instead of a faint Spirit. Thank You Jesus that we can trust You for the lifting of depression and anxiety – and for a covering of gladness and praise in this season.
Lord, we want to draw closer and closer to You, every day. Find us on our knees as we submit 2021 to You. Lord, we worship and honour You!
Amen.
